HOW TO STORE GROUND BEEF?
Refrigerate leftover ground beef from any of these easy ground beef recipes in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
The majority of these recipes are also freezer-friendly and can be kept in the freezer for up to three months.
Depending on the recipe, you can reheat in the air fryer at 300F for 5-10 minutes, the oven at 300F for 10 minutes, or on the stovetop over medium heat until thoroughly warmed.
Allow it to thaw overnight in the refrigerator or for a few hours at room temperature before reheating from frozen.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I add to ground beef to make it better?
Add chopped herbs and soaked breadcrumbs for filler and flavor. Minced garlic, fresh herbs, and dried spices flavor ground meat so effectively because they are mixed right into the center of the meat, as opposed to a steak or roast, where the seasoning sits on top.
What is the healthiest way to cook ground beef?
Even better, compared to frying ground beef in oil, boiling it is a much healthier option. The boiling process aids in the separation of fat from the meat, resulting in a lean product.
Is ground beef the same as mince?
Sometimes the terms “ground meat” and “minced meat” are used interchangeably. However, they distinguish two methods of processing raw meat: ground meat is an emulsion of lean meat and fat, whereas minced meat is finely chopped skeletal-muscle meat. Minced meat is choppy and textured, whereas ground meat is consistent and smooth.
Can you refreeze ground beef?
You can refreeze ground beef that has been frozen and thawed safely (in the refrigerator). We do not recommend doing this more than once because it will result in freezer burn and a loss of taste and texture when cooking the meat.

Description
Homemade meatballs are very simple to make, especially since we skip the messy step of pan-frying them before adding them to the sauce. I use a standard half-beef/half-pork mixture in this recipe. If you prefer, you can replace the milk with water or beef broth.
Ingredients
- 1 c. fresh bread crumbs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1/2 lb. Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 c. freshly grated Parmesan
- 1/4 c. freshly chopped parsley
- 2 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 1
(32-oz.) jar marinara sauce, or homemade marinara
Instructions
- Wrap a baking sheet in foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, soak bread crumbs in milk for 20 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Cook and stir onions in hot oil for 20 minutes, or until translucent.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the beef and pork. With a rubber spatula, combine the onions, bread crumb mixture, eggs, parsley, garlic, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, Italian herb seasoning, and Parmesan cheese into the meat mixture. Refrigerate for about an hour, covered.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220 degrees C).
- Form the meat mixture into 1 1/2-inch-diameter balls with wet hands. Arrange on a baking sheet that has been preheated.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
Notes
Some recipes call for equal parts beef, veal, and pork, which is also tasty but more expensive. Ground beef comes in a variety of lean-to-fat ratios these days. Most stores sell 90 percent lean, 10% fat, but for this recipe, I prefer an 80 percent lean, 20% fat ratio.
After the meatballs have been cooked, place them in your favorite prepared tomato sauce for 1 to 2 hours.
