Description
Yes, it is possible to bake bacon in the oven! Bake it in a 350°F oven for about 20 minutes for perfectly crispy results. At a lower temperature, it cooks more evenly.
Ingredients
- 8 oz bacon (about 8 strips)
- Spices to taste (optional; you can use freshly ground black pepper, smoked paprika, and/or garlic powder)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Arrange the bacon slices on the wire rack in a single layer. Instead of using a rack, you can arrange them directly on parchment paper.
- Spices can be sprinkled on top of the bacon if desired, but this is entirely optional. Normally, I don’t.
- Bake until the bacon is crispy to your liking. I put it in the oven for 20 minutes.
- If you didn’t use a rack, drain the cooked bacon briefly on paper towels before serving.
Notes
Use a rimmed baking sheet: Whether you use a wire rack or not, a rimmed baking sheet is essential for preventing grease from dripping onto the oven floor and potentially causing a grease fire.
Preventing grease splatters: If you bake on a rimmed baking sheet at 350 degrees F, it shouldn’t splatter too much. If avoiding splatters is important to you, a simple method is to cover the bacon with a sheet of parchment paper while it cooks.
