Description

Soy sauce-braised beef with star anise. This dish pairs well with garlic fried rice and a bowl of beef stock on the side.


Ingredients

  • 2 ½ lbs. beef cubed
  • 1 piece Knorr Beef Cube
  • 2 pieces star anise
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup scallions chopped
  • 2 thumbs ginger minced
  • 6 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 piece onion chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic crushed
  • 2 ½ cups water
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a cooking pot or pressure cooker, heat the oil. Saute the onion, garlic, and ginger in a skillet.
  2. Once the onion has softened, add the beef. Cook until golden brown.
  3. Pour in the soy sauce and water. Stir.
  4. Combine the Knorr Beef Cube with the star anise. Cook for 15 minutes on high pressure in a pressure cooker covered with a lid.
  5. Season with salt and ground black pepper, then add the brown sugar. Cook for another 8 to 10 minutes, or until the sauce has reduced slightly.
  6. Serve with sinangag and beef stock and garnished with chopped scallions. Please share and enjoy.
