Beef and Beans is a simple and inexpensive stovetop meal that you may recall from your childhood. Its simple ingredients and simple preparation make it an ideal meal for a busy night. Serve with a salad for a full meal, or with cornbread on the side.


  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onionchopped
  • 28 oz. baked beans
  • ½ C. water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • dash of liquid smoke if desired


  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onion.
  2. Remove the fat.
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients and cook for 45 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally.


If you have cooked ground beef and/or onions in the freezer, use them to expedite this recipe.
